Coco’s EVO
Ok so here is the first of the four features from our trip out west. I’ll start it off with these two random snaps from the Agenda Show we attended in Huntington Beach. Chill’n outside was the Crooks & Castles and MATIX flagship vehicles. It’s cool to see how much car culture influences so much that is so un-car related, it’s almost built into their way of life.

Around 3am, while cruising around Huntington we run into Coco and his super clean EVO. I’ve come to learn in the few days i spent in the Newport/Huntington Beach area that they are some of the friendliest/nicest people I’ve ever encountered. You’d be hard-pressed to find someone with a chip on their shoulder or in a bad mood. Everyone was very warm, inviting, and quick to help.
As we spoke to Coco Zurita, he explained he was in the area to compete in X-games 16.
I’ve always been a fan of the murdured-out look and as Coco explained that the matte black finish on his EVO isn’t even paint…it’s a wrap! The whole car… He opened the door to revile the original white color that still remained in the jam of the door(not pictured).

I wanna apologize for the blurry shots taken in such low light, but i felt like it was a perfect opportunity to bring you car culture in it’s purest form. Oh, and as i should mention, pointed out by Coco, check out his sponsor: Vivid Racing.
Here’s a shot of Coco doing what he does(Via Vivid Racing):
more to come…

Oh Another New Guy!
Whats going on guys? I’m Chaz, a photog based out of Philadelphia. I got super excited when I was asked by James to guest blog for DETO. I’ve been out of the game lately with using my camera, but this opportunity is reigniting the fire inside again to shoot. Some quick background on me, I’ve been shooting for 5 years. Originally I bought a big expensive camera just to be able to take nice looking photos at night. It quickly grew on me after snapping a few of my friends cars, so I basically took the time to learn how to use my equipment and software by myself. Stopped shooting cars when I moved to Florida for a few years and took up portraiture. Came back and had a chance to be published in a successful mag thanks to my friend Bill. That was a very sweet feeling after seeing my work printed on paper for everyone and anyone to see.

And this is my current ride. Its a 91 240sx. Current mods- SR20DET Blacktop @10psi, Greddy FMIC, Stance GR+Pro, MB Battles 17×9/9.5 painted Watermelon Pink, Battle Version rear tow arms, Megan Racing RUCA’s, TC Sportline traction rods, JIC Magic Spartan 3″ catback, and some other mods. Hopefully soon, I can do a complete 180sx conversion. I don’t drift, thought about it, but I’d like to do other things with the car. This is my 4th S chassis and most likely the last haha.
If you’d like you can check out more of my work on my FlickR . Looking forward to posting some future shots.

Hello folks, I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone. I’m Michael {Kalbo} Simon, a photographer based in Cleveland Ohio. I’m originally from the Philippines but unlike other Filipinos my family decided to come to Cleveland, instead of going to nicer places like San Francisco, SoCal, Toronto…ect where the weather is a bit nicer. I’ve been a car nut for sometime now and it all started with my beloved EF9 Civic, from there my love of cars grew and with that my love for photography grew even more. Through this I hope to share with everyone what the car scene here in Cleveland is like as well as it’s surrounding areas. I hope to show everyone that even if we’re in the middle of no where in this vast land called America, we love tuning our cars just as much as everyone else out there.
Here is my current daily transporter, its an 03 Subaru Impreza with a few mods (Prodrive lip, Prodrive springs, Cobb F&R sways, Kartboy Endlinks, Turboback, Enkie RPF1′s, Cusco strut tower bars,…etc)
I’d really like to THANK, James Cale for giving me this opportunity to blog with him. I will try my best to blog as often as I can. To see some of my other work please visit my site MichaelKalbo.com.
And if you have any questions about me or my work you feel free to contact me @ Michaelkalbo@gmail.com
DETO’s First Featured Car: 4UDREW S15 SILVIA
Posted by detoadmin in Culture, Drifting, Featured Cars, Import on February 28th, 2010
This is DETO’s first featured car, which makes this special, but the story behind what the car stands for is really what makes this feature stand out. This J-spec RHD Nissan S15 Silvia is in memory Drew Panettieri.
Drew was passionate about racing just like you and me. In 2005, Drew bought and rebuilt a Nissan 240sx. With the help of his friends, Drew swapped out the stock power plant for the favored SR20 motor. Anyone that tunes motors knows how much of an accomplishment this can be, especially if it is your first motor swap.
By 2006, Drew had passed away due to a tragic motor cross accident at the age of 19. I came to meet the Panettieri family and Drew’s friends that are a part of The Drew Panettieri Foundation and it is easy to tell that Drew was surrounded by love. The Drew Panettieri Foundation stands for what Drew stood for and loved.
Donations toward the foundation goes to raising money for the three charities that Drew was actively involved in: LaSalle College High School, The Mother of Sorrow Soup Kitchen and St. Vincent’s Soup Kitchen. The Silvia that serves as the foundation’s mascot could not be a better example of what a pristine S15 should look like. This car is immaculate in person and looks right out of the pages of an Option 2 magazine.
The car was purchased in Jacksonville, Florida and shipped to Doylestown, Pa where the Panettieri family resides. Since the purchase of the car, it has been upgraded with the following modifications:
APEXi Power FC Commander
740cc Injectors
HKS Turbo Kit
HKS Top Mount Turbo Manifold
GT3037
HKS Intercooler
ABS Delete / Adjustable Proportioning Valve
Koyo Radiator
Megan Pulleys
Electric Fans
DVD Touch Screen Head Unit
Optima Battery
Taylor Battery Relocation Kit w/Box
K-Sport Kontrol Pro Coilovers
One Piece Drive Shaft
S14 5-speed Transmission (swapped from the OEM 6-speed)
Tomei Coil Pack Cover
Tomei Oil Cap
Nardi Steering Wheel
NRG Quick Release Hub
WORK Meister S1 3 piece Rims 18×10
Custom Powder Coated Valve Cover
The 4 U Drew Silvia stands for a noble cause backed by good people. The proceeds go back to the community as well as maintain the Silvia that represents the memory of someone just like any of us who loved tuning cars with his friends. You may make a donation by sending a check made payable to:
