REBEL YELL

The work of art that you see below is owned by Mick Cote.  You are looking at a 1983 “greymarket” 930 slant nose Porsche.  Unlike most Porsche owners who acquire this elite German car manufacture for mere status, Mick drives and owns the car the way it was intended.  This car is literally a daily driven race car.  Full cage? Check.  3.3ltre turbo? Check.  Professionally tuned? Check.  There’s over $5k in the suspension alone….Oh and prior to the shoot, he just took his “slicks” off in the event he was caught out in the rain with them. Did I mention the wide body was fabricated by Mick himself, from start to finish…  I had to take two shots of the rear from different angles so you could get an idea of how this car sits.  The lines in this car are flawless and more importantly, functional. All you “stance” fan boys can drool over this.  Except Mick won’t be “hard parking” at any car meets…from left to right shows the rear and front stance.I feel like Mick’s Porsche dates back to an era when they still made sports cars that had character.  This car pre-dates any driver assists and before sports cars all started looking the same from afar.  It was truly an honor to shoot such a raw, yet refined car of this caliber.  Expect to see more of Mick’s ’83 Slantnose on our site in the future.

Cinnamint

My friend Vinny recently unveiled his current pride and joy: a 1995 Lexus SC300.  Not only is this car equipped with the uber-rare 5 speed transmission, but the rear sub frame was completely swapped out from a real Toyota Soarer along with a complete 97+ conversion done to the body – Front bumper, rear bumper, taillights, and headlights.  Not to mention the former owner was Nick D’Alessio from Elitejdm.com, so you know this car is legit.  I feel that Vinny’s wheel set up really sets off this car.  We all know most people would keep it safe and go with more conventional colors, but Vinny wanted to do something different.  Driving around with Vinny, we certainly caught some stares of shock and awe.  We were stopped at almost every light with a barrage of questions from the car next to us about the wheels.  It put a huge smile on Vinny’s face every time.  Love’em or hate’em, Vinny’s just doing his thing and having fun doing it. :)

DETO’s First Featured Car: 4UDREW S15 SILVIA

This is DETO’s first featured car, which makes this special, but the story behind what the car stands for is really what makes this feature stand out.  This J-spec RHD Nissan S15 Silvia is in memory Drew Panettieri.

Drew was passionate about racing just like you and me.  In 2005, Drew bought and rebuilt a Nissan 240sx.  With the help of his friends, Drew swapped out the stock power plant for the favored SR20 motor.  Anyone that tunes motors knows how much of an accomplishment this can be, especially if it is your first motor swap.

By 2006, Drew had passed away due to a tragic motor cross accident at the age of 19.  I came to meet the Panettieri family and Drew’s friends that are a part of The Drew Panettieri Foundation and it is easy to tell that Drew was surrounded by love.  The Drew Panettieri Foundation stands for what Drew stood for and loved.

Donations toward the foundation goes to raising money for the three charities that Drew was actively involved in: LaSalle College High School, The Mother of Sorrow Soup Kitchen and St. Vincent’s Soup Kitchen.  The Silvia that serves as the foundation’s mascot could not be a better example of what a pristine S15 should look like.  This car is immaculate in person and looks right out of the pages of an Option 2 magazine.

The car was purchased in Jacksonville, Florida and shipped to Doylestown, Pa where the Panettieri family resides.  Since the purchase of the car, it has been upgraded with the following modifications:

APEXi Power FC Commander

740cc Injectors

HKS Turbo Kit

HKS Top Mount Turbo Manifold

GT3037

HKS Intercooler

ABS Delete / Adjustable Proportioning Valve

Koyo Radiator

Electric Fans

DVD Touch Screen Head Unit

Optima Battery

Taylor Battery Relocation Kit w/Box

K-Sport Kontrol Pro Coilovers

One Piece Drive Shaft

The 4 U Drew Silvia stands for a noble cause backed by good people.  The proceeds go back to the community as well as maintain the Silvia that represents the memory of someone just like any of us who loved tuning cars with his friends. You may make a donation by sending a check made payable to:
